About Amber

Academic Rigor &
Institutional Leadership

Amber Shaw is a multi-media artist who was raised in Tobago and whose work is a vivid celebration of Caribbean culture.

Awarded a full scholarship to the International Fine Arts College in Miami, where she attained her Bachelor of Fine Arts, Amber has spent over twenty years teaching, exhibiting and creating across Trinidad and Tobago.

Her work is inspired by "simple everyday things" — the rich tapestry of the island she grew up in. She works with pastels, acrylics, oils and colour pencils, and builds her figurative sculptures from wood, wire, papier-mâché, cement, steel and glass.

Amber's work is held in permanent collections at the Shaw Park Multi-Cultural Complex, the Scarborough Library, the Brix Hotel, and Comfort Inn & Suites, Tobago. She currently serves as Secretary of the Tobago Visual Arts Association (TVAA) for the 2025–2027 term.
