Tobago, Trinidad & Tobago
Recording the rich tapestry of Caribbean life —
one brushstroke at a time.
Amber Shaw is a multi-media artist who was raised in Tobago and whose work is a vivid celebration of Caribbean culture.
Awarded a full scholarship to the International Fine Arts College in Miami, where she attained her Bachelor of Fine Arts, Amber has spent over twenty years teaching, exhibiting and creating across Trinidad and Tobago.
Her work is inspired by "simple everyday things" — the rich tapestry of the island she grew up in. She works with pastels, acrylics, oils and colour pencils, and builds her figurative sculptures from wood, wire, papier-mâché, cement, steel and glass.
Amber's work is held in permanent collections at the Shaw Park Multi-Cultural Complex, the Scarborough Library, the Brix Hotel, and Comfort Inn & Suites, Tobago. She currently serves as Secretary of the Tobago Visual Arts Association (TVAA) for the 2025–2027 term.
A dynamic exhibition space spanning traditional fine art to industrial sculpture.
Exhibited at the National Museum & Art Gallery, Port of Spain.
Working with pastels, acrylics, oils and colour pencils — often on wood panels that themselves carry a sculptural dimension.
Figurative forms built from wire, papier-mâché, cement, steel, cloth and glass — each material a deliberate cultural choice.
Rooted in the everyday beauty of Tobago — the Carnival, the Cocoa farmers, the steelband, sensitizing others to the importance of preserving the natural environment — elevated to fine art.
